Description

Champei, also called Da Champei or Laang Ta Thong, is a waterfall landscape near Ruot Champei in O’Smach. Rock channels and seasonal flow shape the experience seen in archive visitor videos.

This is the O’Smach / Samraong site. It should not be relocated to Anlong Veng merely because a broad provincial itinerary lists both places.

How to Get There

Travel by road from Siem Reap toward Samraong or Anlong Veng, then continue to the relevant district. Border-escarpment sites have separate access restrictions from the main towns.

For Champei / Laang Ta Thong Waterfall, continue toward Ruot Champei, O’Smach, Samraong. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.

Road and transport context ↗

Admission

Entry, parking and activities can be charged separately at recreation sites. A reliable current tariff is not published in the reviewed sources; keep a separate cash allowance for the visit rather than relying on an old quoted price.

Things to Do

If access is authorised, observe the cascades from a stable recognised path and leave room for other visitors. Flow and footing change after rain.

What to Eat

Eat in Samraong or Anlong Veng before a remote outing. Rice, noodles and cooked vegetables are practical options; take drinking water and a packed meal beyond town.

Where to Stay

Samraong and Anlong Veng are the main town bases. Choose the one closest to your itinerary rather than treating all border sites as a short day trip from one hotel.

Best Time to Visit

Water flow is usually stronger during and after the rainy season, while the dry season can expose more rock. Visit in daylight and avoid the stream during heavy rain or a sudden rise in water level.

Before You Go

Do not assume a photographed pool is suitable for swimming. Avoid slippery rock, rising water and unconfirmed side trails.
