Description
Learn about Tboung Khmum rubber cultivation through the Chup plantation landscape and a visit arranged with a receiving organisation.
Chup is a working agricultural landscape with colonial-era plantation associations. CIRAD documented a research visit to the Chup Research Station in 2024; that study visit does not establish a standing public tour or permission to enter production facilities.
Destination and visitor context ↗How to Get There
Reach Suong and Memot by road on the National Road 7 corridor east of Kampong Cham. Use a car or local road transport for individual temples, agricultural areas and river communities.
Continue toward Chup rubber estate area, Tboung Khmum for Chup Rubber Plantation. Travel by car or motorbike to the agreed farm meeting point; permission is needed before entering working fields or plantation premises.
Road and transport context ↗Admission
A farm visit is an agricultural activity rather than a standard public park ticket. Meals, tastings, demonstrations and accommodation are separate products; a reliable single tariff is not published in the reviewed sources.
Things to Do
Visit with the grower's permission to learn about cultivation and the crop's processing. Buy produce directly when offered, and keep tasting or purchases separate from permission to walk into production areas.
What to Eat
Buy a cooked rice or noodle meal in Suong or Memot before a countryside outing. Durian and other fruit are seasonal; tasting and purchases are separate from permission to enter a working orchard.
Where to Stay
Suong suits the western province and Memot the eastern agricultural and archaeological areas. Kampong Cham can also serve as a base for western Tboung Khmum outings.
Best Time to Visit
Go during a grower's receiving time, preferably in cooler daylight. Harvest and crop availability vary by farm and season; a farm name alone does not establish a fruit-picking programme.
Before You Go
Contact an appropriate receiving organisation before travelling. The estate-area pin is not a factory gate or tour meeting point. Keep clear of machinery, chemical stores and active work.
