Independence Beach

Description

The beach combines a coastal outing with a view of one of Sihanoukville’s best-known hotel landmarks. The surrounding road and waterfront setting have changed over time, so use current access directions rather than an old hotel or restaurant list.

How to Get There

Travel to Sihanoukville by road from Phnom Penh on the expressway or National Road 4. Continue by tuk-tuk or car to mainland stops; offshore islands require a boat.

For Independence Beach, continue toward Independence waterfront, Sihanoukville city, Preah Sihanouk. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.

Admission

Check parking, seating and property-managed facilities before using them. Do not assume hotel pools or grounds are included in a beach visit.

Take a short coastal walk from a permitted entrance.

Look for views of the Independence Hotel setting.

Combine the stop with other city beaches using a planned road route.

What to Eat

Grilled fish, prawns and squid are coastal meal options. Eat at an established waterfront restaurant, or carry a picnic for a remote beach; island meals are easiest near the village or your accommodation.

Where to Stay

Sihanoukville city is the mainland base. For an island stay, choose accommodation on the same island and beach as the boat arrival, or include an onward transfer.

Best Time to Visit

The drier months, roughly November to April, are usually more practical for island travel. Wind and sea conditions still control crossings; leave flexibility around the return to the mainland.
