Description
Kachanh is one of the separately named waterfall outings south of Banlung. Community tourism reporting associates the site with local receiving services and a wooded stream setting.
Keep it distinct from Katieng farther along the broader waterfall landscape. Similar spellings in travel lists do not make the two cascades the same stop.
Place and locality context ↗How to Get There
Reach Banlung by intercity bus, minivan or car. From the Stung Treng side, the road connection runs east toward Banlung; waterfalls, Veun Sai and forest programmes are separate outings.
For Kachanh Waterfall, continue toward Kachanh area, south of Banlung. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.
Road and transport context ↗Admission
Entry, parking and activities can be charged separately at recreation sites. A reliable current tariff is not published in the reviewed sources; keep a separate cash allowance for the visit rather than relying on an old quoted price.
Things to Do
View the cascade from an open path or viewing area. Ask the local host which steps, bridge sections or banks may be used on the day.
Place and locality context ↗What to Eat
Rice dishes, seasonal fruit and coffee are practical choices around Banlung. Take a packed lunch and water for a forest or river outing.
Where to Stay
Banlung is the main accommodation base for the volcanic lakes and nearby waterfalls. A Veun Sai or Virachey overnight is a separate community or trekking arrangement.
Best Time to Visit
Water flow is usually stronger during and after the rainy season, while the dry season can expose more rock. Visit in daylight and avoid the stream during heavy rain or a sudden rise in water level.
Before You Go
Do not infer the state of steps or a bridge from an old photograph. Keep to open routes and do not enter fast water or stand beneath unstable rock.
