Description

Ream is a large landscape rather than one attraction behind a single gate. A mangrove boat outing on the Prek Toek Sap side is different from a beach stop or forest walk. Ask which part of the park a proposed tour actually visits and how much time is spent on the water.

How to Get There

Travel to Sihanoukville by road from Phnom Penh on the expressway or National Road 4. Continue by tuk-tuk or car to mainland stops; offshore islands require a boat.

Use Ream coastal area, east of Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk as the local approach area for Ream National Park. Continue beyond the road base on an established guided programme; forest tracks and wildlife routes are different from public town roads.

Admission

Guided conservation and community programmes are booked as activities, with transport, guiding, meals or overnight stays priced according to the chosen programme. A sanctuary boundary is not an unrestricted public entrance. A reliable single admission price is not published in the reviewed material.

Things to Do

Explore mangrove channels on a permitted guided boat route.

Take a locally approved forest or coastal walk.

Look for birds and coastal habitats without expecting wildlife sightings on demand.

What to Eat

Grilled fish, prawns and squid are coastal meal options. Eat at an established waterfront restaurant, or carry a picnic for a remote beach; island meals are easiest near the village or your accommodation.

Where to Stay

Sihanoukville city is the mainland base. For an island stay, choose accommodation on the same island and beach as the boat arrival, or include an onward transfer.

Best Time to Visit

November to February usually brings cooler weather for forest walks. Start wildlife outings early; wet-season rain can make tracks slower and change which routes can be used.

Before You Go

Use an authorised route, keep disturbance low and do not collect wildlife. Ask about life jackets, boarding surfaces and toilet stops before booking.
