Description

Ta Mok Lake is part of the landscape around Anlong Veng’s former Khmer Rouge headquarters. A visit combines a view of the water with questions about the town’s history and present-day life.

The Anlong Veng lake is distinct from Boeng Ta Mok in Phnom Penh and from Ato / Stung Sreng II. Visible shoreline features and flooded trees depend on the season.

How to Get There

Travel by road from Siem Reap toward Samraong or Anlong Veng, then continue to the relevant district. Border-escarpment sites have separate access restrictions from the main towns.

For Ta Mok / Anlong Veng Lake, continue toward Anlong Veng town and lake area. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.

Admission

A waterside walk, parking, a private leisure area and boating are separate activities. A reliable current admission tariff for the whole landscape is not published in the reviewed sources.

Things to Do

Observe the lake from a stable public bank and connect the landscape with documented local history. Ask before photographing homes or fishing activity.

What to Eat

Eat in Samraong or Anlong Veng before a remote outing. Rice, noodles and cooked vegetables are practical options; take drinking water and a packed meal beyond town.

Where to Stay

Samraong and Anlong Veng are the main town bases. Choose the one closest to your itinerary rather than treating all border sites as a short day trip from one hotel.

Best Time to Visit

Morning and late afternoon offer cooler waterside light. Water levels and spillway flow change with rainfall; a dam or reservoir should not be treated as a safe swimming pool.

Before You Go

Avoid unstable banks and submerged obstacles. No safe swimming area, boat service or open promenade is established by this guide.
