Angkol Beach

Angkol Beach opens up a different stretch of Kep’s coast, east of the central town beaches. Its coastal road, fishing setting and long sea views suit an unhurried outing with time to choose a comfortable stopping point.

Description

Angkol belongs to the coastal villages of Damnak Chang’aeur district. The coastal road has improved access, but a visit is still best planned around a specific beach stop rather than a vague destination name.

Treat the shoreline as a lived-in fishing coast. Beach conditions, shade, food stalls and usable access can differ along the road, and a location that looks close on a map may require a different vehicle stop.

How to Get There

Reach Kep by bus, minivan or car from Phnom Penh, or by road from nearby Kampot via the Kep coastal corridor. Use a tuk-tuk or car for mainland outings.

For Angkol Beach, continue toward Kep. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.

Admission

Budget for the boat crossing separately from accommodation, beach services and paid activities. Public beach access, private resort facilities and offshore excursions have different arrangements; a reliable combined tariff is not published here.

Things to Do

  • Walk an accessible stretch of the Angkol shoreline
  • Watch fishing activity without obstructing boats or gear
  • Enjoy a coast-road outing with a planned food stop

What to Eat

Kep Crab Market is the main food stop for crab, prawns, squid and fish. Seafood is commonly priced by weight; choose your portion before it is cooked.

Where to Stay

Stay near Kep Beach for the waterfront, or around the Crab Market and national-park slopes for restaurants and quieter gardens. Island accommodation requires a boat transfer.

Best Time to Visit

The drier months, roughly November to April, are usually more practical for island travel. Wind and sea conditions still control crossings; leave flexibility around the return to the mainland.

Before You Go

Bring shade protection and footwear for uneven or muddy sections. Avoid walking through fishing equipment or private yards. Treat mangrove areas as a separate conservation visit and check the current community entrance.
