Description

Mangrove areas are documented along the Angkol coast, but the exact visitor entrance and condition of any walking structure need checking locally. This is a separate visit from simply stopping at Angkol Beach.

A successful outing depends on using the community’s current access route. Do not assume that photographs of the Phum Thmey or Ou Krasar walkways show this site, or that every mangrove area has the same visitor facilities.

How to Get There

Reach Kep by bus, minivan or car from Phnom Penh, or by road from nearby Kampot via the Kep coastal corridor. Use a tuk-tuk or car for mainland outings.

For Angkol Mangroves & Boardwalk, continue toward Kep. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.

What to Eat

Kep Crab Market is the main food stop for crab, prawns, squid and fish. Seafood is commonly priced by weight; choose your portion before it is cooked.

Where to Stay

Stay near Kep Beach for the waterfront, or around the Crab Market and national-park slopes for restaurants and quieter gardens. Island accommodation requires a boat transfer.

Best Time to Visit

Morning or late afternoon is comfortable for outdoor city walking. Plan evening entertainment around the dated programme rather than a general daytime sightseeing schedule.

Before You Go

Use safe road crossings and keep to public areas. Protect valuables in crowds, respect residents and allow extra travel time for city traffic.
