Baphuon Temple

Description

Baphuon rises above a long raised approach in the royal precinct of Angkor Thom.

The visit follows the currently open route and receiving arrangements. Allow time to look closely, follow staff guidance and check any conservation or religious restrictions before entering.

How to Get There

Use Siem Reap as your base and travel into Angkor by tuk-tuk, car or bicycle with a valid park pass. Baphuon Temple is in Angkor Archaeological Park. Vehicles stop outside the monument; continue along the designated visitor path on foot.

Admission

An international Angkor pass costs US$37 for one day, US$62 for three visiting days or US$72 for seven visiting days. Buy through Angkor Enterprise online or at its official ticket office. The pass is separate from transport and guiding.

Things to Do

Follow the permitted approach and look for the reclining Buddha form on the western side from ground level.

What to Eat

Try rice noodles, amok or a rice-and-vegetable meal around the Old Market or Wat Bo. Carry water and a snack for temple or lake excursions.

Where to Stay

Stay around the Old Market, Wat Bo or central Siem Reap River for restaurants and onward transport. Angkor and the lake villages are separate excursions from the city.

Best Time to Visit

Morning or late afternoon is more comfortable for exposed courtyards and climbs. The cooler, drier months from November to February suit longer heritage walks.

Dress respectfully, remain on the permitted visitor route and avoid touching carvings or climbing restricted structures. Conservation work and religious observances can change access.
