Description

Boeng Prek Lapouv is a protected wetland landscape in Takeo, important for Sarus Cranes and other waterbirds. Seasonal grasslands, water and farming form its habitat mosaic.

The point is a published wetland-area reference, not a birdwatching hide or guaranteed crane location. Conservation access and seasonal sightings require local coordination.

How to Get There

National Road 2 connects Phnom Penh with the Takeo corridor. Use a car or intercity road transport for the main journey, then a tuk-tuk or car for individual heritage stops.

For Boeng Prek Lapouv Protected Landscape, continue toward Borey Chulsar and Koh Andet. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.

Admission

A waterside walk, parking, a private leisure area and boating are separate activities. A reliable current admission tariff for the whole landscape is not published in the reviewed sources.

Things to Do

Enjoy the water views from an established public approach, photograph the landscape and spend time in a permitted rest area. Keep fishing, irrigation structures and working access clear.

What to Eat

Takeo town and roadside settlements offer freshwater fish, rice and noodle dishes. Carry water for hill climbs and eat outside the temple precinct.

Where to Stay

Takeo town suits Angkor Borei and the southern province. Phnom Penh is convenient for the northern Tonle Bati and Phnom Chisor outings; these are different itineraries.

Best Time to Visit

Morning and late afternoon offer cooler waterside light. Water levels and spillway flow change with rainfall; a dam or reservoir should not be treated as a safe swimming pool.

Before You Go

Respect local residents and worshippers. Stay on permitted paths; ask before entering buildings or photographing people. Ask the host about current access and keep away from restricted infrastructure or unsafe water.
