Description
Kampong Phluk is a lake-edge community known for high stilted houses and a seasonally flooded forest.
The apparent height of houses and the flooded-forest experience change with lake levels. Agree optional charges and inclusions before departure.
Destination and visitor context ↗How to Get There
Travel southeast from Siem Reap toward the Roluos area on National Road 6, then continue to Kampong Phluk. A car or tuk-tuk covers the land journey; a local boat covers the navigable village and lake section. The usable landing and the length of the boat section change with the water level.
Road and transport context ↗Admission
Guided conservation and community programmes are booked as activities, with transport, guiding, meals or overnight stays priced according to the chosen programme. A sanctuary boundary is not an unrestricted public entrance. A reliable single admission price is not published in the reviewed material.
Things to Do
Use an established visitor programme for forest walks, wildlife interpretation or birdwatching. Watch animals from a distance and keep to the programme's cleared routes. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.
What to Eat
Try rice noodles, amok or a rice-and-vegetable meal around the Old Market or Wat Bo. Carry water and a snack for temple or lake excursions.
Where to Stay
Stay around the Old Market, Wat Bo or central Siem Reap River for restaurants and onward transport. Angkor and the lake villages are separate excursions from the city.
Best Time to Visit
November to February usually brings cooler weather for forest walks. Start wildlife outings early; wet-season rain can make tracks slower and change which routes can be used.
Before You Go
Wear closed shoes, carry water and insect repellent, and keep noise low around wildlife. Forest trails need a proper guide and any required conservation permission; stay out of closed habitat and active work areas.
