Description

Marine Conservation Cambodia identifies Koh Ach Seh as its operational island base. The surrounding archipelago is part of a fisheries management area with important marine habitats, making conservation context central to any visit.

Allow time for the boat journey and a comfortable return. Agree on a simple itinerary with your operator, leaving flexibility for the day’s sea conditions.

How to Get There

Reach Kep by bus, minivan or car from Phnom Penh, or by road from nearby Kampot via the Kep coastal corridor. Use a tuk-tuk or car for mainland outings.

For Koh Ach Seh, use a boat from the coastal departure area serving Kep. A mainland road vehicle cannot complete an offshore transfer. Accommodation or an excursion booking should identify the actual boat meeting point and landing.

Admission

Budget for the boat crossing separately from accommodation, beach services and paid activities. Public beach access, private resort facilities and offshore excursions have different arrangements; a reliable combined tariff is not published here.

Things to Do

  • Learn about the marine conservation programme if a visit is accepted
  • Ask which learning or participation activities are currently available
  • Observe the marine environment according to the team’s instructions

What to Eat

Kep Crab Market is the main food stop for crab, prawns, squid and fish. Seafood is commonly priced by weight; choose your portion before it is cooked.

Where to Stay

Stay near Kep Beach for the waterfront, or around the Crab Market and national-park slopes for restaurants and quieter gardens. Island accommodation requires a boat transfer.

Best Time to Visit

The drier months, roughly November to April, are usually more practical for island travel. Wind and sea conditions still control crossings; leave flexibility around the return to the mainland.

Before You Go

Carry small cash, water and sun protection, and keep valuables dry during the crossing. Use life jackets on boats and avoid swimming near working piers or in rough water.
