Description
Rabbit Island is a separate destination reached by boat from Kep. The beach and simple island atmosphere make it an appealing contrast to the mainland’s road-based sightseeing and seafood market visits.
Choose the kind of visit you want before buying a transfer. A beach day, a quiet overnight stay and a wider island-hopping trip involve different arrangements; none should be assumed from a generic “Rabbit Island” ticket.
Visitor research reference ↗How to Get There
Go by tuk-tuk or car to the Koh Tonsay departure pier in Kep, then cross by passenger boat to Rabbit Island. Continue on foot from the island landing to the main beach and bungalows. The road journey ends at the mainland pier.
Road and transport context ↗Admission
Budget for the boat crossing separately from accommodation, beach services and paid activities. Public beach access, private resort facilities and offshore excursions have different arrangements; a reliable combined tariff is not published here.
Things to Do
- Spend an unhurried day on the accessible beach
- Watch the boats and enjoy island views from the shore
- Take a locally advised walk without assuming a complete island circuit is open
What to Eat
Kep Crab Market is the main food stop for crab, prawns, squid and fish. Seafood is commonly priced by weight; choose your portion before it is cooked.
Where to Stay
Stay near Kep Beach for the waterfront, or around the Crab Market and national-park slopes for restaurants and quieter gardens. Island accommodation requires a boat transfer.
Best Time to Visit
The drier months, roughly November to April, are usually more practical for island travel. Wind and sea conditions still control crossings; leave flexibility around the return to the mainland.
Before You Go
Bring sun protection, cash and a dry bag. Wear footwear suitable for boarding and shore walking. Keep your boat contact available and take rubbish back rather than leaving it beside an island path.
