Description

Kulen Waterfall is one of the principal visitor stops on Phnom Kulen, with water descending through a forest setting.

Flow, slippery approaches and access to lower levels vary with weather. Recorded swimming does not establish present water safety.

Destination and visitor context ↗

How to Get There

Drive from Siem Reap toward Banteay Srei and the Phnom Kulen mountain access road. A car is practical for the uphill road; continue on foot between the parking areas, religious site and waterfall viewing routes. The mountain excursion uses separate admission from the ordinary Angkor temple circuit.

Road and transport context ↗

Admission

Entry, parking and activities can be charged separately at recreation sites. A reliable current tariff is not published in the reviewed sources; keep a separate cash allowance for the visit rather than relying on an old quoted price.

Things to Do

View the falls from permitted positions and follow current guidance about steps and water access.

Destination and visitor context ↗

What to Eat

Try rice noodles, amok or a rice-and-vegetable meal around the Old Market or Wat Bo. Carry water and a snack for temple or lake excursions.

Where to Stay

Stay around the Old Market, Wat Bo or central Siem Reap River for restaurants and onward transport. Angkor and the lake villages are separate excursions from the city.

Best Time to Visit

Water flow is usually stronger during and after the rainy season, while the dry season can expose more rock. Visit in daylight and avoid the stream during heavy rain or a sudden rise in water level.

Before You Go

Wear shoes with grip and keep phones and cameras protected from spray. Wet rock can be slippery even in calm weather; stay away from currents, drop-offs and restricted paths.
