Description

Lower Sesan 2 is a hydropower dam on the Sesan downstream of its confluence with the Srepok. The project reshaped the surrounding river landscape and affected local communities and fishing livelihoods.

This guide concerns the exterior landscape and its context. A working power facility has its own access controls, and the research does not establish a public tour, visitor centre or open dam-top route.

How to Get There

Reach Stung Treng by bus, minivan or car on the National Road 7 corridor. Mekong communities, Siem Pang and the waterfall area need onward road or boat journeys.

For Lower Sesan 2 Dam, continue toward Sesan River, Sesan district. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.

Admission

A waterside walk, parking, a private leisure area and boating are separate activities. A reliable current admission tariff for the whole landscape is not published in the reviewed sources.

Things to Do

If public access is confirmed, view the reservoir or dam from the permitted location. Learn the wider river and community history, and ask permission before photographing local homes or people.

What to Eat

Try cooked freshwater fish with rice in town, and buy packaged local dried-fish products as appropriate. Carry meals and water for a river or forest programme.

Where to Stay

Stung Treng town is the main base for food and onward travel. Koh Han and other community stays are separate bookings; Siem Pang programmes need their own overnight plan.

Best Time to Visit

Morning and late afternoon offer cooler waterside light. Water levels and spillway flow change with rainfall; a dam or reservoir should not be treated as a safe swimming pool.

Before You Go

Stay outside restricted areas, spillways and steep banks. Respect current instructions about photography and movement around the facility; boat trips or access onto the dam require their own authorization.
