Description

O’Chab is described in tourism accounts as a rapids and riverbank outing on the Sesan, associated with exposed rock, seasonal sand and shade along the river.

River conditions and local access can change. Older accounts of swimming and riverside kiosks do not establish current water safety, operating vendors or an open route.

How to Get There

Reach Stung Treng by bus, minivan or car on the National Road 7 corridor. Mekong communities, Siem Pang and the waterfall area need onward road or boat journeys.

For O’Chab Rapids, continue toward Sesan River area, Sesan district. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.

Admission

Entry, parking and activities can be charged separately at recreation sites. A reliable current tariff is not published in the reviewed sources; keep a separate cash allowance for the visit rather than relying on an old quoted price.

Things to Do

Observe the seasonal river and rock landscape from permitted stable ground. Ask about a currently operating shaded rest or picnic area before planning a meal at the site.

What to Eat

Try cooked freshwater fish with rice in town, and buy packaged local dried-fish products as appropriate. Carry meals and water for a river or forest programme.

Where to Stay

Stung Treng town is the main base for food and onward travel. Koh Han and other community stays are separate bookings; Siem Pang programmes need their own overnight plan.

Best Time to Visit

Water flow is usually stronger during and after the rainy season, while the dry season can expose more rock. Visit in daylight and avoid the stream during heavy rain or a sudden rise in water level.

Before You Go

Keep away from fast channels and slippery rock. Check current river conditions and any local restrictions before approaching the water; do not assume the historic swimming description applies today.
