Description

Phnom 1500 is the name used for a scenic mountain stretch of National Road 55 in Veal Veng. Its winding road is also promoted as Antong Ang and the Bopha Leak Khluon road.

Treat the road, viewpoints, public garden works and privately operated stays as separate things. Development reports and a landscape nickname do not establish an operating campsite or a single resort.

How to Get There

From Pursat, follow National Road 55 toward Pramaoy and Veal Veng, then continue along the mountain corridor toward the Phnom 1500/Thma Da area. Use a roadworthy vehicle for the long mountain drive; waterfall paths and viewpoints are separate stops off the road.

Admission

A hill walk, a religious site, parking and a guided trek may have separate charges. A reliable current tariff for this destination is not published in the reviewed sources.

Things to Do

Enjoy the mountain landscape from a confirmed stopping area. Keep vehicles and photography clear of traffic and ask locally about access to any garden or viewpoint.

What to Eat

Try locally grown citrus when in season, freshwater fish and rice dishes. Stock up with water and picnic supplies before driving into the western mountains.

Where to Stay

Pursat town is useful for the riverfront and lowland heritage sites. Pramaoy and Osoam suit western mountain itineraries; they are separate bases from the lake villages.

Best Time to Visit

Start early for cooler walking and clearer planning around the return. November to February is generally more comfortable for an exposed climb; wet-season trails and cave floors can be slippery.

Before You Go

Check current official advice for the intended route towards the border, visibility, rain and the return journey. Do not stop on a blind bend or assume overnight camping is permitted.
