Description
Phnom Leav is in Pong Tuek commune, Damnak Chang’aeur district. The village and pagoda provide a quieter countryside stop away from Kep’s main beachfront.
Specify Wat Phnom Leav when arranging a temple visit, and confirm the meeting point with your driver. Ask locally about suitable walking routes before setting off into the surrounding hills.
Visitor research reference ↗How to Get There
Reach Kep by bus, minivan or car from Phnom Penh, or by road from nearby Kampot via the Kep coastal corridor. Use a tuk-tuk or car for mainland outings.
Continue toward Kep for Phnom Leav & Wat Phnom Leav. The road journey reaches the local approach or hill base; climbing, cave and mountain sections continue on foot. A driver for the outward journey does not replace the return transport.
Road and transport context ↗Admission
A hill walk, a religious site, parking and a guided trek may have separate charges. A reliable current tariff for this destination is not published in the reviewed sources.
Things to Do
- Visit the pagoda respectfully if it is open to visitors
- Take short countryside stop with a knowledgeable local host
- Combine the area with an independently confirmed farm visit
What to Eat
Kep Crab Market is the main food stop for crab, prawns, squid and fish. Seafood is commonly priced by weight; choose your portion before it is cooked.
Where to Stay
Stay near Kep Beach for the waterfront, or around the Crab Market and national-park slopes for restaurants and quieter gardens. Island accommodation requires a boat transfer.
Best Time to Visit
Start early for cooler walking and clearer planning around the return. November to February is generally more comfortable for an exposed climb; wet-season trails and cave floors can be slippery.
Before You Go
Wear respectful clothing for religious grounds and ask before taking portraits or entering private property. Do not follow an unverified hill path simply because it appears beside a village map label.
