Phnom Voar Fruit Orchards

The Phnom Voar countryside includes fruit-growing land around its villages and foothills. Arrange a visit with a farm or local host before travelling, especially if durian or a particular harvest is the reason for your trip.

Description

This is a guide to an agricultural area, not the name of one publicly managed orchard. Different families grow different crops and decide independently whether to receive visitors.

The value of a farm outing is meeting a real host and understanding what is in season. A roadside fruit stall, an organised farm visit and permission to pick fruit are three different arrangements.

How to Get There

Reach Kep by bus, minivan or car from Phnom Penh, or by road from nearby Kampot via the Kep coastal corridor. Use a tuk-tuk or car for mainland outings.

Continue toward Kep for Phnom Voar Fruit Orchards. The road journey reaches the local approach or hill base; climbing, cave and mountain sections continue on foot. A driver for the outward journey does not replace the return transport.

Admission

A hill walk, a religious site, parking and a guided trek may have separate charges. A reliable current tariff for this destination is not published in the reviewed sources.

Things to Do

  • Meet a host who has agreed to a farm visit
  • Learn which fruit is currently growing or being harvested
  • Buy seasonal produce directly when the farmer offers it

What to Eat

Kep Crab Market is the main food stop for crab, prawns, squid and fish. Seafood is commonly priced by weight; choose your portion before it is cooked.

Where to Stay

Stay near Kep Beach for the waterfront, or around the Crab Market and national-park slopes for restaurants and quieter gardens. Island accommodation requires a boat transfer.

Best Time to Visit

Start early for cooler walking and clearer planning around the return. November to February is generally more comfortable for an exposed climb; wet-season trails and cave floors can be slippery.

Before You Go

Wear practical shoes, follow the host’s route and keep away from farm machinery. Ask before touching or picking produce, entering buildings or photographing people working.
