Description
The Samlout conservation landscape extends across parts of Battambang and Pailin. Conservation partners use the name Samlaut or Samlout Multiple Use Area, rather than the supplied generic protected-landscape label.
The area is linked to community forestry, habitat protection and rural livelihoods. A protected-area name is not evidence of a public self-guided trail or a visitor reception on every road.
Place and locality context ↗How to Get There
Travel from Battambang to Pailin on the Road 57 corridor by car or other road transport. Continue from Pailin town to local hills, farms and waterfall approaches.
For Samlout Multiple Use Area - Pailin Landscape, continue toward Southern Pailin conservation landscape. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.
Road and transport context ↗Admission
Outdoor public areas, private premises and paid activities have different entry arrangements. A reliable single admission tariff for the whole destination is not published in the reviewed sources.
Things to Do
A properly arranged visit can introduce the relationship between community livelihoods and forest conservation. Keep to the route and activities agreed with the receiving community.
Place and locality context ↗What to Eat
Longan is a characteristic Pailin crop; buy fruit in season. Rice, noodle dishes and market snacks make practical meals before a countryside outing.
Where to Stay
Pailin town is the main base for Phnom Yat and surrounding countryside. An orchard or day-use resort is not automatically an overnight property.
Best Time to Visit
Morning or late afternoon is comfortable for outdoor city walking. Plan evening entertainment around the dated programme rather than a general daytime sightseeing schedule.
Before You Go
Do not treat the foundation’s project coverage as an invitation to enter its facilities or the wider forest. Do not leave an approved route to look for wildlife, old tracks or wartime remains.
Check current provincial access and the linked official border-area travel advice before arranging this outing.
