Description

The provincial tourism directory describes the Tbeng Mountain waterfall under the Santous Tama name, reached from the Krang Doung area of Preah Khlang commune. It associates the mountain visit with Dambok Khmao pagoda and seasonal water.

Ta Ma is kept as a distinct waterfall route. Confirm the local spelling and exact host meeting point rather than treating every Phnom Tbeng waterfall as interchangeable.

How to Get There

Use Preah Vihear town, Sra Aem or the Srayang/Koh Ker area as the road base appropriate to your itinerary. Intercity road transport reaches the province; the major temple groups are separate journeys.

For Ta Ma Waterfall, continue toward Krang Doung, Preah Khlang commune, Phnom Tbeng. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.

Admission

Entry, parking and activities can be charged separately at recreation sites. A reliable current tariff is not published in the reviewed sources; keep a separate cash allowance for the visit rather than relying on an old quoted price.

Things to Do

Enjoy the waterfall scenery from permitted ground and visit the pagoda only with local permission. Ask your guide about the mountain’s worship traditions and respect quiet areas used by residents and monks.

What to Eat

Eat a rice or noodle meal in your overnight town and carry lunch and water for a longer temple or forest outing. Do not eat among archaeological remains.

Where to Stay

Preah Vihear town suits the central province, Sra Aem the northern temple approach, and the Srayang area the Koh Ker group. Choose the base for the actual temple you intend to visit.

Best Time to Visit

Water flow is usually stronger during and after the rainy season, while the dry season can expose more rock. Visit in daylight and avoid the stream during heavy rain or a sudden rise in water level.

Before You Go

Follow the agreed path and turn back if the guide judges conditions unsuitable. Keep away from cliff edges and strong water. The different Phnom Tbeng approaches are separate routes with their own transport and walking requirements.
