Tatai Waterfalls

Wide rock shelves and river cascades make Tatai one of Koh Kong’s best-known nature stops. Arrange a local visit around water levels, with time to enjoy the river landscape rather than rushing between distant attractions.

Description

The falls belong to the Tatai River landscape east of Koh Kong town. The river and nearby forest are part of the attraction; seasonal water levels change both the view and which approaches are practical. River lodges and the waterfall are separate stops, so confirm what an excursion includes.

How to Get There

Travel on National Road 48 to Tatai. For the falls or a river property, continue by the boat or local approach used by that visit; the highway bridge area is a road landmark, not the entrance to every riverside destination.

Admission

Entry, parking and activities can be charged separately at recreation sites. A reliable current tariff is not published in the reviewed sources; keep a separate cash allowance for the visit rather than relying on an old quoted price.

Things to Do

  • Watch the cascades from a suitable viewing spot
  • Take local river outing
  • Photograph the rocky river landscape without approaching strong currents

What to Eat

Fish, seafood and rice dishes suit the coastal part of the province. Carry a packed lunch for a forest outing; community and boat programmes can include meals when sold as part of the trip.

Where to Stay

Koh Kong town works for the western coast and nearby mangroves. Use Tatai for river stays, Chi Phat for its community trails, or Koh Sdach for the southern archipelago.

Best Time to Visit

Water flow is usually stronger during and after the rainy season, while the dry season can expose more rock. Visit in daylight and avoid the stream during heavy rain or a sudden rise in water level.

Before You Go

Wear shoes with grip on wet rock. Do not enter fast water or cross flooded sections; a calm-looking edge can conceal a strong current.
