Description

A Cambodian cultural field article identifies the three-boulder formation south of the pagoda at Wat Ra Ang on Phnom Tbeng. The site includes a rock-shelter setting and a Sanskrit inscription on one boulder.

This is a locally guided rock-and-pagoda destination. The evidence does not establish a constructed viewing platform, a staffed viewpoint or a safe route to stand on top of the boulders.

How to Get There

Use Preah Vihear town, Sra Aem or the Srayang/Koh Ker area as the road base appropriate to your itinerary. Intercity road transport reaches the province; the major temple groups are separate journeys.

For Thma Bei Dom — Wat Ra Ang, continue toward Kdei village, Ra Ang commune, Sangkum Thmei. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.

Admission

A reliable current ticket price for this site is not published in the reviewed sources. Keep transport and any parking or guide service separate from admission; voluntary religious donations are not the same as a published ticket.

Things to Do

Observe the boulder formation and permitted shrine area from safe ground. Ask a guide about the inscription; never rub, chalk, scrape or pour liquid over carved surfaces.

What to Eat

Eat a rice or noodle meal in your overnight town and carry lunch and water for a longer temple or forest outing. Do not eat among archaeological remains.

Where to Stay

Preah Vihear town suits the central province, Sra Aem the northern temple approach, and the Srayang area the Koh Ker group. Choose the base for the actual temple you intend to visit.

Best Time to Visit

Morning or late afternoon is more comfortable for exposed courtyards and climbs. The cooler, drier months from November to February suit longer heritage walks.

Before You Go

Follow the agreed path and turn back if the guide judges conditions unsuitable. Keep away from cliff edges and strong water. The different Phnom Tbeng approaches are separate routes with their own transport and walking requirements.
