Description

Ba Phnom is a group of hills and religious sites in southern Prey Veng. The area is associated with the name Nokor Phnom and early Cambodian history; a local guide can distinguish the landscape’s historical evidence from its living traditions.

Phnom Chheu Kach belongs to this wider hill outing. Plan the hill path and the nearby temple stops separately, allowing time for both the ascent and the return.

What to Eat

Freshwater fish, rice-noodle soup and rice dishes are practical choices in town. Bring water and snacks for a wetland or rural heritage outing.

Where to Stay

Stay in Prey Veng town for the lakefront and central province, or use Phnom Penh as the base for a planned day trip. Allow for the onward drive to a rural site.

Best Time to Visit

Start early for cooler walking and clearer planning around the return. November to February is generally more comfortable for an exposed climb; wet-season trails and cave floors can be slippery.

Before You Go

Wear shoes with grip and carry water. Take a light for a permitted cave route, keep away from cliff edges, and do not enter unmarked tunnels or leave established trails.
