Description

Koh Prumacharey is a community-based ecotourism site in Kratie’s Mekong landscape. The name also appears as Koh Promacharey and Koh Prumcharey in tourism material.

WWF describes work with local hosts on accommodation standards and a 2026 riverine tourism project. Visitor arrangements remain community-led, with routes and services to be agreed for the day.

How to Get There

Reach Kratie by bus, minivan or car from Phnom Penh. Use the town as a base for the Mekong road toward Kampi and Sambor; river islands require their own crossing.

Continue toward Chroy Banteay community, Mekong River for Koh Prumacharey Community. The land journey and any river or lake crossing are separate stages: road transport reaches a departure area, while a local boat reaches the water route. The usable landing changes with water level.

Admission

River transport and any private recreation facilities are charged separately from a village walk. A reliable fixed admission tariff for this wider area is not published in the reviewed sources.

Things to Do

Explore the village lanes and river views, visit a willing local business and pause for a meal or drink away from busy landing areas. Use a designated crossing for any river transfer.

What to Eat

Try sticky rice cooked in bamboo from Thma Krae and locally grown pomelo when available. Kratie town is the practical place for a cooked meal before a river excursion.

Where to Stay

Kratie riverfront is the main base for restaurants and dolphin-area outings. Koh Trong offers a quieter island stay reached by a separate local boat.

Best Time to Visit

Go in the cooler morning or late afternoon. Dry-season sandbars and high-water river views are different experiences, and a sandy bank is not proof of safe swimming.

Before You Go

This is a lived-in river community. Ask permission before entering homes, farms or worship areas, use agreed paths and pay local hosts directly for arranged services. Wear a life jacket for boat crossings.
