Description
Kratie’s west-facing waterfront offers a broad view over the Mekong towards Koh Trong. It is an easy place to pause between village, temple and boat outings.
The public riverfront walk is not a permanent sand beach. Water level changes the visible shoreline, and exposed banks should not be treated as maintained bathing areas or a route across the river.
Site reference ↗How to Get There
Reach Kratie by bus, minivan or car from Phnom Penh. Use the town as a base for the Mekong road toward Kampi and Sambor; river islands require their own crossing.
For Kratie Riverfront & Sunset Walk, continue toward Central Kratie waterfront, Preah Soramarith Quay. A car or motorbike covers the local road section; use the established approach for the final walk and keep a return vehicle for a countryside outing.
Road and transport context ↗Admission
There is no general ticket for a public-street walk. Meals, parking, boat trips and any privately managed area are separate; ask the relevant operator before using a service.
Things to Do
Take a short sunset walk, watch passing boats and rest at an open riverside café. Leave the ferry landing and working boat areas clear and keep a safe distance from steep or slippery banks.
Site reference ↗What to Eat
Try sticky rice cooked in bamboo from Thma Krae and locally grown pomelo when available. Kratie town is the practical place for a cooked meal before a river excursion.
Where to Stay
Kratie riverfront is the main base for restaurants and dolphin-area outings. Koh Trong offers a quieter island stay reached by a separate local boat.
Best Time to Visit
Morning or late afternoon is comfortable for outdoor city walking. Plan evening entertainment around the dated programme rather than a general daytime sightseeing schedule.
Before You Go
These are working streets and residential buildings. Keep doorways clear, photograph from public space and ask before photographing traders or entering a shop or home.
